A place to meet and collaborate, the new office for Copus by Aspekt Office hits the mark and is both original and fresh
Creating a clean and pared back aesthetic, Aspekt Office has achieved a new workplace design that reflects and celebrates the values of Danish brand and communications agency, Copus.
The office is located in the Frederiksberg Municipality of Copenhagen, Denmark, in Müllers Mansion, a historic marble building situated next to Frederiksberg Gardens.
The building was recognised for its quality and aesthetic beauty some 70 years ago, but now, there is new life for this historic icon with a design that incorporates the best of the old with contemporary life.
Reflecting the genesis of Copus and its clients, Aspekt Office has created a new workplace that conveys the thinking behind the agency. Copus as a multi-disciplinary company in the realms of communications strategy, copy writing, film production and PR, required its office to not only be original but to provide a place that would enhance connection and collaboration with clients.
“We always work closely with our clients. We try to transform the company’s identity into a visual space. We do this, by defining the company’s core values and transforming it into a physical space. Working with Copus was a big pleasure because the young team has so much personality that we used to create the office,” says Hans Hornemann, designer and partner at Aspekt Office.
Copus works with a diverse group of clients that includes lifestyle and fashion brands as well as tech companies such as Another Aspect, Mikkeller, Dixa and Soundboks, and so it was vital to provide an experiential environment to help facilitate collaborations.
The colour palette of the interior is fresh and modern with soft green curtaining and workshop tables, and pops of bright yellow in the lunch area. Furnishings are appropriate, with Clerici Lounge chairs from Mattiazzi, Vitra office chairs, HAY Revolver stools, bespoke furniture from &elements and custom barstools designed by Aspekt Office, as well as Glo-ball pendant lights from Flos.
The office space is open plan, delineated by a room divider from Atelier Axo in the middle. On one side there is a large table for more informal gatherings, and on the other, desks and workstations.
Meeting rooms have also been included and a smaller room with Oak coffee table and chairs provides a more relaxed environment to conduct business. A semi-outdoor workshop is also a popular place to meet and with white board, high chairs and standing table, creates a relaxed atmosphere.
Aspekt Office has created an environment that not only fulfils the client brief but enhances the Copus brand. As a studio, Aspekt Office, a Copenhagen-based multi-disciplinarian design practice, is well versed in providing exemplar projects for its clients and the Copus workplace proves the point.
Perhaps the last word on the new office design should come from Julius Gabel, Partner, Copus, who says, “We like to say that we’re an agency for the new generation, by the new generation. We mean this quite literally – everyone here is between the early twenties and mid-thirties and no one is too influenced by the way most agencies have been operating for decades because none of us have been around for that long.
This allows us to do things a little differently. Our clients all bring something new to the table, too, so naturally our office had to stand out as well. That’s why we were so enamoured with Aspekt Office. Not only do they have a different eye than most Danish interior designers, they also bring the ability to craft their own pieces specifically for the offices they design.”
