This September, Danish design brand Vipp will expand its Swivel chair series, launching an executive office chair with enhanced ergonomics for extended hours at the desk.
The Vipp 454, without armrests, and the Vipp 455, with slender armrests that extend seamlessly into the padded backrest, feature a lengthened backrest and an enlarged seat with extra padding.
The Swivel chair series has been a hugely successful design for Vipp since it first launched five years ago, and can now be seen in a diverse array of creative and corporate offices around the world.
It combines comfort with an elegant profile and high-quality manufacturing.

Vipp wanted to update the proportions and evolve the design for those who might spend more hours sitting at a desk or in a boardroom.
The idea was to expand the Swivel chair family to accommodate different uses and contexts – “a spin for every space”, as the company likes to say.
The core of the seat is built from a firm structure of braided belts and wood, wrapped in dense layers of foam, creating a construction that is soft yet supportive.
The new Swivel chairs are designed with a pivot construction that branches out into a four- or five-legged base, to which castors or gliders are added.
The two chairs also come in a + iteration with adjustable seat height and a tilt function.
“The expansion of the series has been a natural evolution, much like many other Vipp collections, adapting over time in response to the different ways we’ve seen customers use our chairs across a variety of settings,” says Kasper Egelund, third generation co-owner and CEO of Vipp.
“After all, our iconic Vipp bin now comes in six sizes but it took us 87 years to get there. Product development at Vipp has always been driven by longevity rather than speed.”
Vipp has been known for its expertise in metalwork since the company first launched its now iconic pedal bin in 1939.
The Swivel series is defined by its sculptural aluminium frame, supportive seat and smooth rotation.
“That design DNA of durable, functional products that combine industrial precision and ease of everyday use is very much at the core of everything we do,” adds Egelund.
