Clerkenwell Design Week’s third year was a triumph by all accounts and onoffice were delighted to be taking part in the action. The sunshine came out for the festival and visitors also came down in full force, within excess of 30,000 registered attendees to the show. If you weren’t lucky enough to get down to the festival and experience it for yourself, here’s a round-up of what we got up to as well as a video to whet your appetite for CDW 2013.

THE FRINGE
Onoffice was proud sponsors of CDW’s ‘Fringe’ where architects, designers and creative studios opened their doors to showcase the workspaces which are at the very pulse of London’s creative heart.
MAKERS IN RESIDENCE
Building on the collaborative ethos of CDW onoffice also teamed up with Creative Clerkenwell on the Makers in Residence programme, which ran throughout CDW. Makers in Residence celebrated Clerkenwell’s unique community of makers and designers who gave live demonstrations, sharing special insights into the skills and processes behind their crafts and finished products.
WALKING TOURS WITH DESIGNER AND HISTORIAN JANE YOUNG
We also supported Creative Clerkenwell in bringing walking and drawing tours led by Jane Young of LondonKillsMe. Visitors joined her on a walking and drawing tour of Clerkenwell’s creative past and present, specially prepared for CDW 2012. Guests explored the tangled streets of Clerkenwell, heard about the tavern that served the Knights Templar, popped into designers’ studios, discovered the secret of the area’s hidden river, and found out how Kurt Geiger’s modern headquarters got its fancy façade.
DEBATE
onoffice editor James McLachlan chaired a lively panel debate at Desso showrooms where industry experts Clare Brass, Leader, Sustain Royal College of Art and SEED Foundation, Mr Koen Van Eig, owner and director, BMA Nomique and Ludwig Cammaert, design & technical development manager at Desso debated the notion , “Should health, wellness and wellbeing be key considerations in the design process?”
THIS IS A WORKPLACE TOO EXHIBITION
Shot by award-winning photographer Andrew Meredith for onoffice magazine, This Is A Workplace Too gives an insight into the offbeat, dangerous and occasionally amusing tasks people perform to pay the bills. We had a retrospective exhibition of some of our personal favourites on display in café TwentyTwo to TwentySix, where those who signed up to our registration offer were invited to have a free coffee on us.
onoffice would like to thank The MJ Group for their support during CDW 2012.
