Internationally acclaimed designer Philippe Starck will open this year’s 100% Design, where he will unveil his latest ceramic tile collection for Ceramica Sant’Agostino.
The biggest design event in the UK will encompass 22,000sq m of exhibition space – a 20% increase on last year – and will comprise four key industry sections: workplace; interiors; emerging brands; eco design and build; and kitchens and bathrooms.
The central hub of this year’s Workplace section will be designed by architecture practice NBBJ, which is responsible for the design of Google’s new campus in San Francisco, Samsung’s 100,000sq m HQ in Silicon Valley, and Amazon’s ‘bubble-dome’ office campus in downtown Seattle.
Taking inspiration from the hotel lobby, NBBJ’s hub will function as a networking and social space and concierge service during the show. It will highlight the multi-disciplinary nature of the modern workplace and the fusion of hospitality and working environments, an emerging trend that is increasingly informing office design.
A number of major contract furniture specialists will launch workplace design products and systems at the festival. These include Bestuhl UK, Casal, Boss Design and BuzziSpace, as well as 100% Design newcomers Nowy Styl Group and Dataflex.
The exhibition will take place at Earls Court Exhibition Centre from 17 to 20 September during London Design Festival 2014.
