Swiss writing manufacturer Caran d’Ache has unveiled a new collaboration with fragrance-maker Mizensir – a range of scented pencils which celebrates the majestic mountains of both brands’ home country.
The pencils are scented with ‘Alps Spirit’ – a perfume developed by the famous master perfumer and founder of Mizensir, Alberto Morillas – which combines patchouli essences with musk and nutmeg to recreate Switzerland’s larch and stone pine forests, lifted with orange to conjure the sensation of watching the sun rise over the Alpine peaks.
The pencils are made from top quality re-constitued wood from Ayous or Poplar species. Photo: Caran d’Ache
The collection is also made from decorative, fine woods, bringing an exotic twist to Caran d’Ache’s usual offering. Ayous and Poplar wood was chosen for their firmness, yet lightness, as well as being easy to sharpen.
Established in 1915, Caran d’Ache still produce all its pens and pencils in its Geneva workshops. These designs are graphite and come in HB grading, with all leads made from 100% natural materials.
