Leading contemporary furniture and lifestyle retailer Silvera showcased the preview of ‘Baxter Worldwide 2020’ earlier this month, transforming its showroom to exhibit the very best of Italian craftsmanship
Teaming up with high-end furniture retailer Silvera to celebrate its launch, Italian design brand Baxter – renowned for its handcrafted leather goods – has unveiled ‘Baxter Worldwide 2020’, a project that presented the company’s new collection online and offline to a community of professionals and Baxter aficionados across the world.
“Baxter Worldwide 2020 was born from the impossibility of bringing the Baxter community to Milan and in particular from the question ‘if they can’t come to us, why don’t we go to them?’” , states Paolo Bestetti, Baxter’s CEO.
To unite the creative community and bring Baxter’s work to the forefront of the design world, the venerable Italian brand debuted the project and its latest offerings online and at Silvera on 9th October 2020, the latter located on London’s prestigious King’s Road and part of the worldwide reveal. The unmissable event – which began digitally in Tokyo – toured key locations around the world for 24 hours, including Hong Kong, Moscow, Tel Aviv and Milan, among others.
A testament to creation and how the design community continues to unite during these unprecedented times, the team realised the project entirely online as Baxter’s President Luigi Bestetti explained in more detail. “It’s something I really enjoyed: sitting at my desk and seeing the whole team on one screen to discuss what’s new. Doing something new and getting it right immediately is what keeps you going.”
Alongside the digital programme, the collection – designed both by Baxter’s in-house team and some of the industry’s most respected names – features products by Studiopepe, Paola Navone and Draga&Aurel, such as revolving armchairs, sophisticated lighting pieces and geometric rugs. Together, they form an elegant collection, its rounded shapes providing comfort and reassurance during a time of uncertainty.
The finishes are informed by Baxter’s meticulous colour research, headed by Stefano Guidotti, head of Baxter’s style department. Comprising three soothing colour palettes, the first consists of classic shades and contrasting hues. Warm tones of chocolate and browns are paired with vibrant blueberry blues and camel, accentuated by various natural materials, including case brass and white marbles like Bianco Gioia.
The second incorporates various shades of green: military green and bright lime are teamed with subtle tones of grey and alpacca metal to add a pop of modern zing to a variety of spaces. Meanwhile, the final colour palette is, perhaps surprisingly, centred on a punchy turquoise, offset by subtle shades of nude, beautifully showing off the calming effects of on-trend teal tones.
Allowing the global design community to experience Baxter’s collection in the comfort of their own homes, Baxter Worldwide 2020 combines design and technology to reunite design devotees from near and far. The exquisite range, sleek and timeless in aesthetics and styled to perfection, evokes a contemporary look that proves why monochromatic interiors are a thing of the past.
