Taking inspiration from the latest trends and research in colour psychology, global modular flooring manufacturer Interface is launching two new ranges, Contemplation and Multichrome.
Discussing the influences and research behind the new collections, Mandy Leeming, design and development manager for Interface EMEA, explains: “Workspaces as we know them are changing and are essentially becoming an extension of our homes. There is now a real need for environments that focus on the physical, cognitive and emotional wellbeing of workers, and colour is an essential part of that.”
Using the Danish concept of hygge as one of the inspirations, Contemplation takes its lead from the timeless simplicity of homely Scandinavian interiors. With a rugged, artisanal texture and a subdued tweed-like design, the collection is a great example of understated beauty. Contemplation coordinates with Interface’s popular Composure collection and other Interface ranges, to make mixing and matching an effortless experience.
Multichrome, on the other hand, is designed with bold colours to meet the demand for zoning. “Using a variety of colours to define specific spaces or ‘zones’ is crucial for the visual and mental stimulation of workers,” Mandy explains. “Not only does it encourage co-creation and collaboration, it also gives workers the option to move around a space and choose their ideal setting for different types of work.”
Adding an exciting new look to the Interface portfolio, Multichrome’s bold, futuristic textures, intricate weave structures and mixture of neutral and bright colours create a quirky 80s design, making it perfect for zoning in meeting rooms and informal areas in offices.
Available in 12 and 16 different colours respectively, the Contemplation and Multichrome ranges offer varying amounts of contrast and aesthetically pleasing design options. Contemplation requires an ashlar, brick or non-directional installation method, while Multichrome is monolithic. Both collections are available in 50 x 50cm squares.
In line with Interface’s Mission Zero pledge to have zero negative impact on the environment by 2020, Multichrome is made with 100 per cent recycled solution dyed nylon, while Contemplation is 100 per cent solution dyed nylon with some recycled content.
To support designers in adding more colour into interiors, a number of Interface’s most popular collections, including Straighforward II and Online, have been refreshed to include even more colour options. To find out more, visit www.interface.com
