The Milanese firm has developed an origami-inspired workstation that helps workers move their essentials from one place to the next with ease and style
Founded in 2013, Milanese firm Wood-Skin helps architects and designers bridge the gap between digital representation and architectural feasibility. With a patented Wood-Skin® process, the company creates dynamic surfaces using digital manufacturing technologies for some of the world’s most renowned brands, including BMW and Zaha Hadid, among others.
As Covid-19 has changed the way live and work forever, homes have become hybrid spaces where many of us juggle work and personal life. Wood-Skin has now offered an answer to these new needs with their latest product ‘Foldable Office’, an origami-inspired workstation, officially launching on Kickstarter on October 19th 2020.
The desk ticks all the right boxes for remote working. Laptops can be elevated to avoid overheating and create healthier postures, while various customisation features – whether company logo or personalised message – can also be engraved. Furthermore, its origami properties allow the piece to be effortlessly assembled and carried away where and when needed with a minimalist, bespoke handbag.
Manufactured with sustainable materials within Wood-Skin’s own facilities at Materea Industries, Foldable Office has both Italian design principles and sustainability at its very core. The new launch combines style with practicality, ultimately allowing users to create a workspace for all work accessories and needs in one compact product.
