Constructing Worlds: Photography and architecture in a modern world
The exhibition brings together the world of eighteen photographers, from the 1930s to the present day, that have been key to changing perceptions of architecture and the world around us.
Featuring over 250 works by luminaries such as Iwan Baan, Berenice Abbott, Andreas Gursky, Julius Shulman and Bernd and Hilla Becher, who trained their lens on iconic architecture by Le Corbusier, Charles and Ray Eames, and Frank Lloyd Wright, among others.
Salone de Eventos: Freddy Mamani Silvestre
‘Spaceship architecture’, ‘new Andean’ or just kitsch, an architectural phenomenon is transforming the drab, monotonous cityscape of El Alto, Bolivia, with lively and colourful architecture.
This exhibition charts the movement being spearheaded by Freddy Mamani Silvestre, who has built around 60 buildings in the last decade for the emerging middle classes of Aymara descent.

Ove Arup: The philosopher engineer
RIBA is doing a one-off screening of this documentary about the life and work of Ove Arup, who was known as the thinking architects’ engineer and the engineer of the 20th century.
The film, directed and produced by Taghi Amirani, features the likes of Richard Rogers, Renzo Piano, Jack Zunz and Philip Dowson, plus contributions from his family and architecture journalist Jonathan Glancey.

Royal Gold Medal Lecture 2015: O’Donnell + Tuomey
Sheila O’Donnell and John Tuomey will be awarded the RIBA Royal Gold Medal 2015 on 3 February, and will be lecturing on their work and practice the night before at RIBA.
The pair received the Royal Gold Medal in recognition for their lifetime achievement and influence on the advancement of architecture. The practice, O’Donnell + Tuomey, has been shortlisted for the Stirling Prize a record five times, most recently for the London School of Economics’ Saw Swee Hock Students’ Centre last year.

Out of the Ordinary: Award-winning works by young Korean architects
Fresh from his Golden Lion win at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2014, Hyungmin Pai has curated this exhibition examining the radical changes in Korea’s built environment and exploring how young practices are finding unconventional solutions to adapt.
Exploring the work of nine emerging architects, Out of the Ordinary touches on issues such as material experimentation; the emergence of new kinds of client groups and projects; combining private and institutional commissions; and architectural invention with extremely limited resources.
Make yourself comfortable at Chatsworth
Furniture by luminaries of the design and architecture world, such as Thomas Heatherwick, Marc Newson, Amanda Levete and Tokujin Yoshioka, will be exhibited throughout the historic Chatsworth House that is the Duke of Devonshire’s family seat.
The exhibition will also include specially commissioned pieces by Raw Edges and Tom Price.
