'Designs of the Year' nominee Benjamin Hubert is planning to extend his repertoire with the launch of an interior design business. The new venture will be rolled out early next year, under a new brand name, and could include both commercial and domestic interiors.

His first project will see him working alongside a wish list of internationally acclaimed designers, including Tom Dixon, Jaime Hayon, Jasper Morrison, Nendo and Patricia Urquiola, on Cedric Naudon's La Jeune Rue, in Paris' northern Marais. Real-estate entrepreneur Naudon has bought up swathes of the bohemian neighbourhood – over 45 sites – which he is intent on transforming into a world-class food and design destination.

"Our first project will be a flower mill of all things, and the second will probably be a restaurant," Hubert told onoffice.

"Commercial interiors are interesting because of the flow of people, and the usability and robustness required, but I wouldn't rule out domestic interiors."

Benjamin Hubert Studio designs a broad range of products, from furniture and lighting to fashion accessories and consumer electronics, but the multi-award winning designer is not concerned about over-extending his remit.

"That's not my concern, it's just about making sure the projects we do are the right ones – the smart ones, the beneficial ones," he said. "You can't always know, but we try to be very selective."
