The Furniture Makers Company is making a final call for entries to the Design Guild Mark awards.
Design Guild Marks are awarded to furniture designs for volume production that meet the Furniture Makers Company‘s criteria, judged by a panel including Sebastian Conran, Jeremy Myerson, Wayne Hemingway, journalist Barbara Chandler and Gensler‘s Enrico Caruso. Jonathan Hindle, Master of the Furniture Makers Company, hosts the judging panel.
“By the award of this Guild Mark, designers will receive due recognition and the industry will be made more aware of the importance of investment in design. [It] rewards the work of the finest designers working in Britain and the best of British designers working abroad,” says Hindle.
Last year’s winners included Simon Pengelly’s Jonty chair for Chorus, BarberOsgerby’s Knoll sofa collection, the Metro tables by Mark Gabbertas for Lyndon Design, James Irvine’s Juno chair for Arper.
The deadline for applications to 2014’s Design Guild Mark is 19th February. For more information visit furnituremkrs.co.uk
