Clerkenwell Design Week 2018: new participants revealed

Words by

Clerkenwell Design Week 2018 puts the London design district into the spotlight in May, when creative businesses show off the best of the local and international talent

The Clerkenwell Design Week 2018 edition, taking place on 22-24 May, will see local furniture showrooms open their doors with site-specific installations, talks and workshops. With over 90 participating brands, the confirmed showrooms include Moroso, Arper and Kvadrat.

Newly added venues to the Clerkenwell exhibition trail will follow a north to south path from Spa Fields to Farringdon. Seven distinct spaces each feature a different curatorial focus, ranging from luxury interiors to emerging British talent.

New additions to this year's Clerkenwell Design Week include Light, an exhibition dedicated to lighting that will take over Fabric’s infamous brick vaults. Charterhouse Street’s former cold-store turned nightclub will host bold installations and new collections in this inaugural lighting show. Elements is the other addition: a street-market style pavilion on St John’s Square boasting a compilation of ironmongery, hardware and architectural accessories for designers looking for the perfect final finish.

To the north, Design Fields will offer places to eat and drink alongside exciting design. One of last year’s most publicised events was Jonas Van Put’s BuzziJungle for BuzziSpace, which captured media attention and proved popular with families and exhibitors alike.

Also expect the hottest new talent at Platform, in the House of Detention’s subterranean depths; homegrown UK talent at the British Collection in St James’ Church Crypt; contract furniture, lighting and surfaces in Project; high glamour and master craftsmanship in Detail.

All in all, this year is set to be a feast of creative displays, promoting all kinds of international talent.
