Biennale Interieur

Office Kersten Geers David Van Severen has curated the cultural programme at this year’s event in Belgium, which started last week

The 25th edition of the Biennale Interieur kicked off in Kortrijk, Belgium, last week.

Alongside an extensive display of furniture and products, the cultural programme for this year’s event has been curated by Office Kersten Geers David Van Severen.

Taking the theme ‘Silver Lining – Interiors’, the architecture and design practice has focused on the idea that furniture and objects are not isolated items but, rather, part of an organised space. Working with artists Richard Venlet and Pieter Vermeersch, and furniture designer studio Muller Van Severen, it has designed an installation called Solo Interior (an abstracted version of its Solo House near Barcelona). A ghostly setting made of fragments, it contains a range of custom-designed objects and furniture.

Also displaying work will be Vincent Van Duysen, this year’s Designer of the Year. The Belgian architect and designer, who has worked with major brands such as B&B Italia and Flos, was this year appointed creative director of Molteni&C.
