Italy has widely established itself as a pioneering trendsetter in the world of design, architecture and fashion, and with the lead up to the 58th edition of the Salone del Mobile in April, our Italy Issue suitably pays tribute to some of the country’s most prominent voices and talents who continue to exert their influence within the creative fields.
We’re taking a peek through the looking-glass on page 38 with Wonderglass, the Murano-born brand by Christian and Maurizio Mussati who craft bespoke glass lighting and installations.
On page 52, we’re gathering for aperitivo and walking up Terrazza Martini in Milan, where smart working meets la dolce vita in Martini’s new office space. Meanwhile, former editor Elissaveta Marinova journeys to Parma for OnSite – the city, famous for prosciutto and Davines Village alike, the latter a cutting-edge complex designed by Matteo Thun & Partners, which created a family-working environment that combines a production plant, warehouse, education zones and much more.
In OnTop we’re transported off to the Mediterranean, where Club Med Cefalù on Sicily’s northern coast introduces its swanky new look (p64), while a full-bodied serving of The Winery – the Portogruaro-based winery Cantina Santa Margherita – in Venice’s Fossalta di Portogruaro on page 93 sees Italian firm Westway Architects restoring a piece of Italian past.
Suitably, we have also put together a preview of this year’s anticipated Salone del Mobile (p88) in which we highlight three key talents we’re keeping our eyes peeled for this year’s benchmark event, and if you missed out on the Stockholm Furniture Fair last month, flick to page 31 for our pick of Scandi best.
Finally, family comes first on page 84 as we take a fascinating look behind the scenes at UniFor, where we discovered how the design heavyweight became synonymous with contemporary office design.
Elsewhere, I’d like to thank everyone who welcomed me with open arms at OnOffice. I am incredibly thrilled to take on the new role as editor and look forward to an exciting year ahead as we continue to celebrate the best of global design.
