Glaze, a jewel-like pavilion by architects Cousins & Cousins, will grace UK Construction Week this year.
Located in the Surface and Materials Show, the structure, created in collaboration with GX Glass, will showcase the manufacturer’s material expertise. The glass products used in the installation vary in size and colour, offering a visual journey for visitors as they walk through.
The vibrant panels change between opaque and transparent and are inspired by Venetian Murano glass. The pavilion celebrates the versatility of glass and is intended to inspire architects, designers and specifiers.
Its designers, Cousins & Cousins, are a London-based practice, led by husband and wife team Ben and Jelena Cousins. Their work includes a start-up Italian eatery in London and the offices of Axiom Law, as well as multiple high-end residential schemes.
The pavilion first appeared at this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week in May where it was one of the stand-out elements. Its journey to the Midlands should see it receive a similar reception.
The Surface and Materials Show will be held at the NEC in Birmingham between 6-8 October 2015.
