Thomas Heatherwick, Ron Arad and Zaha Hadid are among 80 architects and designers to nominate a book for Aram‘s new pop-up library. As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the design store has invited the well-known industry stars to select a book that has inspired them or influenced their career.
From tomorrow 8 May, the collection of books will be collated into a library that will be open for the public to browse at London’s Aram Store on Drury Lane; quotes from the nominators, who also include Amanda Levete, David Chipperfield and John Sorrell, will run alongside.
Some of the books nominated include Le Corbusier’s Towards a New Architecture, chosen by Norman Foster, and Lucien Hervé’s Architecture of Truth, picked by John Pawson; Paul Smith, meanwhile, chose a book written by Pawson, A Visual Inventory (below – published by Phaidon).
The library will be open to the public until 29 October 2014, after which the books will be donated to a design/architecture school.
