The team will be out and about in force over the three days, so look out for us at the following events

Category: Design

Clerkenwell Design Week 2017 will be filling the diaries of design lovers with an engaging array of talks programs and plenty of networking events and parties. The event gives visitors the chance to not only enjoy exciting new design but to connect and debate with key members of the industry. OnOffice will be making the very most of the three days, with a number of guest talks and partnered events.

A space to be brilliant

Fora will be running a series of talks throughout the three days, called ‘A space to be brilliant’. The series coincides with the opening of Fora’s new space (read more in this month’s co-working column) and will be held at the new location on Central Street, Clerkenwell. At 2pm on Wednesday, Helen Parton will revisit the findings of the book she co-authored with Kerstin Zumstein, Total Office Design: 50 Contemporary Workplaces.

Designed to work

Ben Adams architects will be hosting a talk on Tuesday at 80 Clerkenwell Road to explore the ways in which workplaces are responding to how people actually work. The firm has teamed up with Breather which has championed the philosophy that people work better by design. Speakers will include Ben Adams, founder of the practice and Tom Sleigh, head of lettings at Breather and will be chaired by Helen Parton. The event will begin at 5.30pm with the Q&A at 6pm.

Future of the workplace

OO CDW inekehans

OnOffice has teamed up with British manufacturer Hitch Mylius to present ‘Future of the Workplace’, a live interview with Ineke Hans on Tuesday 23rd May, 4pm at the Malmaison Hotel in Clerkenwell. Editor Helen Parton’s interview with the Dutch furniture designer (Ahrend, Offecct, Cappellini, Magis, Hitch Mylius) will focus on the results of Hans’ 2016 research salons - investigations on the future of the workplace.

OnOffice recently helped SimpsonHaugh judge an internal competition called Thirty, to celebrate the 30th anniversary since the practice was founded by Rachel Haugh and Ian Simpson in 1987 (turn to our cover story for more on the duo). The architects asked its team to design an installation to sit outside the SimpsonHaugh’s office in Clerkenwell, taking inspiration from its unique design approach. Look out for the winning design during CDW.

Designing for wellbeing

On Thursday at 12.30pm, design journalist and OnOffice contributor Katie Treggiden will host an informal discussion at Desso’s showroom on Great Sutton Street. The discussion is titled ‘Designing for wellbeing in the workplace’ and VIP speakers will ask how designers can create workplaces for conflicting modes and needs. These include Emma Morley of Trifle* the design firm behind MOO HQ (OnOffice October 2016).
