Moroso lines up an all-star cast for Salone del Mobile

Words by

David Adjaye will join Moroso's star-studded line up of designers launching products at the upcoming Milan Salone del Mobile. The architect, who designed the Italian brand's HQ in 2010, launched his first furniture range, the Washington Collection, with Knoll in 2013.

Moroso is also collaborating with artist Martino Gamper, architect Daniel Libeskind and designers Ron Arad, Patricia Urquiola, Tokujin Yoshioka, Ross Lovegrove and Nendo. The designs thus far revealed for preview are comparable in their sculptural forms and links to the "world of architecture".

Ron Arad continues his long-standing relationship with the brand, with a new and "final version" of his Glider sofa. With asymmetric, more rounded form and red-to-purple gradient upholstery by Febrik, it represents a substantial evolution of his 2013 design. It is available in both rocking and stable version.

Martino Gamper has designed the St Mark chair with a glossy yellow finish. The chair is a derivation of his Recto Verso chair, itself an ode to the classic Bentwood chair which traces a continuous curve from its back to its hind legs.

Nendo has designed two pieces, the Flat stool, which appears to float on one side, and a deconstructed cube titled Corners, with his usual whimsical approach, "play with geometry, equilibrium and the forces of gravity".

During the Salone, Moroso will showcase a selection of its well-known designs upholstered in new fabrics. Alongside, it will exhibit a series of artworks from the gallery of Jörg Schellmann in its Milan showroom. These will include pieces by Donald Judd, Cindy Sherman, Gerhard Merz and Schellmann himself.
