Emerging talent from across the globe showcased lighting products at this year’s London Design Festival that revealed a playful and colourful approach to design
Corde by Andrea Vargas
A playful spin on the traditional chandelier, Andrea Vargas’ pendant light is made from upcycled climbing rope, employing cradle-to-cradle principles.
The rope is cut and wired before being hardened to the desired shape, while the minimalistic pendant holder is handmade of reclaimed copper.
A graduate of Bucks New University, Vargas was a finalist in this year’s Delight in Light competition.
Capsula by Lucie Koldova
Forming part of Czech designer Lucie Koldova’s latest collection, Capsula comprises two glass capsules – one coloured, one clear – that are positioned together to create a single form.
Capsula is manufactured by Brokis, a Czech company that’s over 200 years old and specialises in using traditional hand-blowing techniques to create products created by up-and-coming designers.
Wig Light by Ivana Crivos
Argentinian designer Ivana Crivos creates a range of colourful and fanciful lighting designs. These range from baubles of light contained within knitted sheaths to bulbs enmeshed in three-dimensional coloured scribbles.
