Reinventions and re-releases are a big trend this year as brands strive to get more mileage out of their classics. Vitra has once again relaunched the Eames fibreglass chair, and Fritz Hansen has reissued Arne Jacobsen’s pot chair, to name just two.
Now it’s Cappellini’s turn to relaunch their successful Juli armchair, this time in lightweight plastic incarnation. Originally designed in 1996 by Werner Aisslinger, the Juli was an instant hit and even made its way into the MoMA architecture and design collection.
The updated version of the armchair is thinner and presented in new bright colours. Juli Plastic is also available with bespoke bases including four or five tips, optional wheels, a cantilevered version, and in a variety of material finished from die-cast aluminium to solid ash.
