Lighting brand Bocci has developed a technique for hand-blowing glass into a heat-resistant ceramic fabric to create unusually textured light pendants.
The process for creating the “73” lights sees hot glass blown into a loose fabric vessel so the glass takes on the fabric’s texture and billowing, supple appearance. A flat LED is used within the structure to fill its volume with a diffused light that accentuates the form of the piece.
The lights are intended to hang in multiples as an abstract cluster to emphasize each one’s unique size, shape and proportions. Bocci is manufactured and based in Vancouver and Berlin, under creative director Omer Arbel.
