These new BOB-19 screens bring social distancing to seating in lobbies and communal work spaces.
Communal seating in the style of Blå Station’s BOB has become a mainstay for workplace design. However, even with its modular nature, it’s not a system that necessarily promotes social distancing in the workplace.
Undoubtedly, this will be seen as an issue that faces pre-pandemic furniture design in offices and other communal spaces, but the answer, in case of the BOB modular system at least, is retrofitting.

The brand has come up with BOB-19 – a new range of Plexi dividers which can be installed into existing and new BOB furniture to create physical barriers between those using the space.
Of course, the modular construction of this seating helps in its adaptability to the new challenges faced post-COVID, however, Blå Station promise that the screens are easy to install without tools or disassembling the sofa, meaning that they can be temporary or permanent additions, and be moved around to meet your needs as required.

The design of BOB-19 also goes beyond the basic measures, which often feel temporary in aesthetics. They’re available in 3 different sizes, meaning they can be used in any BOB modular sofa, and a range of colours and grades of transparencies, to meet the demands of different spaces or styles.
However, these screens won’t completely restore your modular sofa to full occupancy with social distancing in mind. Blå Station recommend 3 seats between each screen to ensure that the space is safe to use.
