French firm Tetrarc has created a honeycomb-inspired façade for the new Hub Créatic building in Nantes, France.
Hub Créatic is located in the centre of La Chantrerie, a campus for private and public higher education establishments, including École d’Ingénieurs de L’Université de Nantes and École de Design Nantes Atlantique et Polytech.
The new building provides scalable workspaces for 70 tech start-ups and 400 people at a proportional rental fee. These are situated around a large four-storey atrium that is encased by a wall of slim vertical poles, placed at varying angles and spacings to create the effect of movement or vibrations.
The exterior is dominated by yellow, parallelogram-shaped window frames, designed to make the building resemble a beehive and to suggest intense, highly productive activity.
