Studio RHE has won planning from Newham Council for an £80 million mixed-use tower that includes commercial space on the ground floor. Called Silvertree, the 24-storey tower will be wrapped in aluminium bands on two elevations. The bands both protect from solar rays and will generate electricity from embedded photovoltaics. The building will house 161 flats and is due for completion at the end of next year.
