Fashion duo Eley Kishimoto 'wraps' Centre Point

Words by

Patterns by fashion design duo Eley Kishimoto are being used to wrap Centre Point, the brutalist tower designed by R Seifert and Partners in the 1960s that stands above London's Tottenham Court Road tube station.

Co-founder Mark Eley says the Grade II-listed building has long inspired them. The implementation of their designs began in January and are being applied layer by layer to the facade of the 117m building, which will be visible for miles across London.

Their bespoke pattern Private View will cover the main body of the building, while Mono Beehive will be used on the concrete facade of the affordable housing located on the site.

The new scheme for Centre Point, led by Rick Mather Architects and Conran + Partners, will include 82 residential flats, 13 affordable homes, 3,880sq m of retail and restaurant space, and a new public plaza. The redevelopment will be completed in time for the arrival of the new Crossrail station at Tottenham Court Road in 2019.
