Rab Bennetts, Peter Murray and Dara Huang are among the contributors to this year’s 10×10: Drawing the City exhibition, raising money for charity Article 25.
For the annual event, a grid of 100 squares is laid over an area of London and a square allocated to each contributor, who then creates an original artwork inspired by the architecture within it. For 2013, the high profile group of architects, designers and artists – which also includes Patrick Tyberghein (CarterTyberghein), Bill Hanway (Aecom), Laurie Chetwood (Chetwoods architects) and Patricia Woodward (Matthew Lloyd architects) – were given a square of East London for inspiration, aiming to capture the unique and unnoticed landscape features of their section using any medium.
The resulting works of art will be on display from 21-28 November at 1 Granary Square, London, with an open electronic auction, culminating in a live auction by a Sotheby’s auctioneer of selected pieces on the 28th. Funds raised will go to Article 25, the UK’s leading architectural and construction aid charity.
Other contributors include: Tim Makower (Makower Architects), Chris Choa (Aecom), Mike Oades (MD, atomikarchitecture), Paul Vick (Paul Vick architects), Oliver Barratt (sculptor), Jenny Harborne (Imago architects), Peter Heath (Atkins), Derek John Draper (Aedas), Roger Fitzgerald (ADP), Patricia Woodward (Matthew Lloyd architects), Ollie O’Brien and James Cheshire (Mapping London) and Ian Wale (spacehub).
