Henry_EllisExhibiting for the first time at Designersblock this year, Henry Ellis-Paul will be showing his new furniture, Stripped (pictured) and his first range of greeting cards, Short and Sweet. Stripped is a modular chair and table that has various arrangements of seats and armrests, which can be easily moved, altered or added-to in order to fit into any environment. Currently based in London, Henry has previously designed packaging, toys and lighting, and believes that an understanding of different areas of the industry helps to create a healthy approach to new projects.

Found Space Tiles-TOUCHY-FEELY

Pushing the boundaries of ceramic wall titles, Touchy-Feely have produced Found Space Tiles that seem to reach out. The tiles are made using the negative spaces between bodies and architectural surfaces, and turned into positive forms. Part body and part wall, the tiles echo the presence of a person, a posture, and literally reach-out to be touched. Made in posture and/or body-specific clusters, the tiles are designed in standard finished dimensions, to be incorporated into inexpensive, 15 x 15cm tiled surfaces.

The Applause Machine-LAIKINGLAND

Laikingland is a creative collaboration based in both the UK and the Netherlands. Its intention is to design and manufacture beautifully crafted kinetic objects that engage the observer, and evoke a sense of play and nostalgia. Laikingland’s first product is the Applause Machine, designed by British artist Martin Smith. It is available in the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Harley Gallery in the UK, and Hot Ice ConFUSION in Amsterdam.

Rupert Bevan and Adam Hely-Hutchinson, best known for their commissioned designs, have now used their talents to create a collection of furniture which has been entirely designed to their own taste and specifications. The Collection comprises 14 pieces, each in two colourways, inspired by the designs of the 1930s and 40s. The Obi cabinet pictured, is one design from the collection.

The ESCAPsulE Chair-T-BAC

The ESCAPsulE Chair combines a retro-style beanbag interior with a buff, smooth roto-moulded polyethylene or fibreglass exterior – bringing together material and aesthetic trends from the past and the present. ESCAPsulE was designed by Troy Backhouse to help teenagers escape their parents while still living under the same roof, by providing a private and quiet space for reading and listening to music.

Mont Blanc sideboard-BEVAN&HELY-HUTCHINSON

The Mont Blanc sideboard, pictured, is from a collection of furniture designed by Rupert Bevan and Adam Hely-Hutchinson. The Collection comprises 14 pieces, each in two colourways, inspired by the designs of the 1930s and 40s. The designers have used traditional construction and finishing techniques.

Ara bench-T&D CABANES

Marta Ferraz and Paula Cabrera have designed the Ara bench for Spanish manufacturer Technology & Design Cabanes. The Ara bench has a sleek and sculptural form, with the supporting structure made of steel and the seat available in wood or polythene strips, which can be custom-coloured.
