The Tempelhof hangers designed by Kolja Clemens was inspired by the Tempelhof Airport outside of Berlin, which closed in October 2008. Clemens created the hangers in memoriam of the help given to the people of West Berlin by the British and Americans during the Berlin-Blockade. The hangers are in the shape of C-47 Aircrafts and the green background-steelplate is in the shape of the typical round edge of Tempelhof Airport when seen from above.
