The Clessidra table, available from E-Side, was designed by Italian architect Giorgio Caporaso, who marries form, function and sustainability in aesthetic design with his innovative use of recycled and recyclable cardboard in furniture. The distinctive modular design that has become typical of his work is put to play in Caporaso’s visually striking table, with its sinuous, smooth clean lines defining its hourglass shape. Resilient, practical and light, Clessidra’s tabletop surface can be changed into a number of elegant finishes, including teak, glass, MDF and even moss.
The design objective of Studio INTEGRATE when creating the deFUSE light was to create a lighting piece that suffuses large areas with a combination of diffused and directional light. The polyurethane-coated and CNC-carved dense foam piece is lit with linear LEDs spread across its top face and 11 spot LEDs where its branches terminate. The two types of lighting provide different ambient modes, while the branches distribute the light on a planar surface. The differentiated sizes of the voids add a subtle dynamism to the lighting effect due to the changing levels of intensity.
KI have come up with a clever concept for its Postura+ range of stackable chairs. Instead of colour swatches, clients receive vertically stacked mini chairs in standard colours in a box marked with product information and colour references in the post. The chairs are ergonomically designed to promote good posture and provide exceptional comfort, and all seven sizes of stackable chairs in the Postura+ range are manufactured in the UK. Moulded from high impact resistant polypropylene, Postura+ is strong, durable and light, enabling the safe vertical stacking of 12 chairs.
Deltalight joined forces with Belgian fashion designer Tim Van Steenbergen to create the Metronome light. Van Steenbergen was inspired to create an object that plays with light and shadow, resulting in a unique and versatile object. Made from a waterfall of aluminium strips, Metronome is available in white, black or red. The Metronome XXL is also available in the collection, measuring 210cm high and is available in white.
Temo is a high-quality conference and meeting room table range from Casala. With a light, almost floating appearance, Temo can be extended and transformed into many shapes and dimensions to suit a variety of needs. The flip-top castor table is both flexible and versatile, while lounge and poseur tables complete the range, with increased suitability for adaptable spaces such as exhibition centres.
The 3D printed shell of the Momentum light by designer and architect Dr. Margot Krasojević creates electrical current from kinetic energy. The rotating light generates power through a dynamo clamped in the centre of its angular form. Produced in nylon polymer the light weighs 145g, but is also available in a lighter polished white ceramic glaze. The faster the light spins the brighter the LED.
The Icon lamp designed by Katharina Eisenkoeck is a series of cordless, portable lights. The light base contains battery powered LEDs and is a specially developed concrete and fibre mix, lowering the light’s centre of gravity but keeping weight to a minimum. The lampshade is formed using a boiled leather technique, strengthening the shade to be used as a handle, and ensuring the lamp is portable. The iconic, sculpted shape of a traditional lampshade is a reference to the ancient craft techniques used in the Icon lamp’s construction.
It is the die cast aluminium frame that gives the Aula chair from Budapest-based designer Lehel Juhos its structure. The chair’s moulded plywood seat and backrest are fixed to the frame, giving the chair a strong construction, kept light by the use of aluminium. The Aula chair is stackable and all parts can be flat-packed.
Designed by Humanscale’s design director Mark McKenna and the Humanscale Design Studio, the Element Disc task light utilises advanced Thin Film LED technology. Disc overcomes the weakness of conventional LED task lights by offering brilliant 3000K illumination and unparalleled aesthetics and sustainability. With a Color-Rendering Index of 80, Disc uses a number of high-intensity micro LEDs that surround several layers of polycarbonate and optical films to create an ultra-wide footprint of warm, glare-free light that casts only one shadow on the work surface. Disc also features dimming functionality with several levels of brightness.
