The union of the rigidity of wood and the flexibility of textile has allowed the Wood-Skin team to develop a new composite material, perfect for complex and changing projects. Wood-Skin is a malleable product that’s strong and has a high-end aesthetic, allowing the user to realise unconventional structures, impossible to achieve with traditional building techniques. This way, wood becomes a fabric, able to be shaped into many forms, simultaneously retaining its structural and aesthetic integrity. The high strength textile and wood combination makes Wood-Skin extremely tough, yet manageable and malleable.
Offering a combination of practical and individual ergonomics, the Esencia task chair is able to adapt quickly to the demands of multiple users in flexible working conditions. The chair’s synchronous mechanics centre on a 3D pressure-point spring unit, identifying the weight of the user and relaying the intensity of pressure from seat to backrest. A self-adjusting tension mechanism, coupled with synchronised movement, ensures permanent contact between user and backrest, creating the optimum distribution of pressure in every possible position.
Natural Touch from Kronospan allows designers to specify a genuine wood surface without the higher costs of exotic woods and veneers. The embossed-in-register board demonstrates physical depth by precisely synchronising the surface structure to match the image of the wood grain below. With 14 Natural Touch decors in Kronodesign’s new global bible, designers can get their hands on realistic wood design surfaces quickly and efficiently through global distribution service Kronospan Express. Natural Touch gives designers the option of a natural and intimately tactile wood texture, but with a durability, flexibility and consistency of colour and grain.

KI’s Cornerstone is a new acoustic stacking screen system designed by Craig Jones. Designed to integrate with the UniteSE workplace collection and other furniture systems, the design brief for Cornerstone was to create a physical link between workstation, storage and screening to provide a natural progressive link into third space. Expansion and contraction in existing and new areas of workflow were fundamental to the design element, as was the use of acoustic materials and the ability to offer it on internal and external surfaces, allowing flexibility in colour, texture, functionality and budget.
