Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, David Chipperfield and V&A director Martin Roth will be attempting to answer the question, “Can Design Save Europe?” in a panel discussion at B&B Italia, Brompton Road during London Design Festival. Chaired by Vicky Richardson, director of architecture, design and fashion at the British Council, the leading industry figures will debate how design, manufacturing and innovation can help to rebuild economies and drive Europe out of recession. As the popularity of European designs has remained strong internationally during the downturn, the speakers will be asked whether investment in taking these products to global emerging economies is the way to ease economic pressure on the so-called design powerhouse nations. And how can design combine manufacturing and innovation to provide solutions and products that can contribute to maintain this leadership? The panel discussion takes place on Thursday 20 September from 6-8pm, with limited space. RSVP to This email address is being protected from spambots.
