UK lighting manufacturer Astro, presented an array of bright new designs at the recent Sleep Event. The D-Light, one of Astro’s latest ingenious LED wall lights, has a slim rectangular profile that provides a lightness of design, and inside which a 3watt LED casts a gentle glow up and down the wall. Beau McClellan produces high-end lighting products such as those found within their Reveal collection. The outer glass of the Reveal table light has only 70 percent of its surface coated and can be rotated 360 degrees by a unique turning system at its base. This in turn exposes the unfiltered light through the light bar, directing a stronger light source where required and preventing unwanted fingerprint marks. iGuzzini illuminazione contributed to the new Woodland Trust headquarters in Grantham, Lincolnshire with the Ground Y Light lamps. The aim of the 2,800 metre squared headquarters was to create a highly functional and sustainable building, which has been reflected in its BREEAM certification. Around 100 Ground Y Light lamps were installed to provide both direct and indirect lighting; the lamps can be controlled individually up to 50 percent of their power, therefore contributing to the reduction in energy use. www.iguzzini.com

The Rock and Wedge reading light by Open Source Design was inspired by their philosophy of free distribution, reproduction and modification. Using digital transference, the storage and distribution of design is maintained digitally until ordered by the consumer; this also enables a relationship between the consumer and the fabricator.
